
The
Ranthambhore National Park is bounded by the River Chamba, in the south, and
Banas, in the north. It was established as a sanctuary in 1959 and included
in the very first phase of Project Tiger in 1972. In 1981 Ranthambhore was
awarded National Park status.
The park is characterized by rocky plains, flat hilltops, gentle slopes and
steep cliffs, and dominated by dry deciduous forests. Ranthambhore has rich
flora a multitude of wild animals. It boasts of an appreciable number of
tigers, leopards, the elusive caracals, striped hyenas, sloth bears, jungle
cats, wild boars, crocodiles, besides other animals. Moreover, the reserve
is rich in avifauna and boast of over 300 species of birds, both rare
domestic and migratory birds. Enjoy your expedition with a tiger safari or

» Air - The nearest airport is at Jaipur, 145 kms,
from where a bus or a train can be taken to Sawai Madhopur
» Rail - Sawai Madhopur lies on the main
Delhi-Mumbai railway route and is connected by train to a number of cities
and towns across India, including Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.
» Road - Sawai Madhopur is easily accessible by road
from most of the major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, etc.

Corbett
National Park is located in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas in the
state of Uttaranchal. Established in 1936, as the Hailey National Park,
Corbett National Park is one of India's first national park and the first
sanctuary to come under Project Tiger. The abundance of vegetation in
Corbett makes it an ideal habitat for the Tiger and its prey.
Once a popular hunting ground of the British, the park is named in the
honor of the late Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter-naturalist turned author
and photographer who spent most of his years in this area and contributed in
setting up the this park. The park spans in an area of 201 sq miles. It was
in 1973, when the Project Tiger was launched in Corbett National Park with
the help of the World Wildlife Fund and then this park was one of the first
such tiger reserves in the country.
Home to a variety of flora and fauna, Corbett is known for its wild
population of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. Besides, Corbett is a haven
for Deer, Wild Boar, Leopards, Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat and Fishing Cat.
Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Dole or Wild Dog, Jackal, etc. Himalayan
Palm Civet, Indian Gray Mongoose, Common Otter, Blacknaped Hare, Porcupine,
Gharial Crocodile, Mugger Crocodile, Goat Antelopes, Langur and
Rhesus Monkeys are well distributed through out the park.
How to Reach
Air : Phoolbagh, Pantnagar at a distance of 50 km is the nearest
airport.
Rail : Ramnagar is on the broad gauge track from where the road
transport options have to be availed to reach the park.
Road : Ramnagar is served by frequent buses to and from Nainital and
Ranikhet, 112 km north. Delhi Transport corporation also runs semi deluxe
services.
